About Exam
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the AFCAT 02/2025 recruitment for Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch, Permanent Commission (PC) and SSC in Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) branches, and NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch). The course for selected candidates will begin in July 2026 at Air Force Academy, Dundigal.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of India
  • Age Limit (as on 1 July 2026):
    • Flying Branch & NCC Special Entry: 20–24 years (Born between 2 July 2002 and 1 July 2006). Upper age limit relaxable up to 26 years for CPL holders.
    • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): 20–26 years (Born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2006).
  • Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years must be unmarried.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Flying Branch: 10+2 with 50% marks each in Physics & Mathematics + Graduation with 60% OR BE/B.Tech with 60%.
    • Ground Duty (Technical): 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics (50%) + 4-year Engineering/Technology degree with 60%.
    • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduation (minimum 3 years) in any discipline with 60% or equivalent (specific requirements for Accounts, Administration, Logistics, etc.).

  • AFCAT Written Exam
    • Mode: Online (Computer-Based)
    • Duration: 2 Hours
    • Questions: 100 | Marks: 300
    • Marking Scheme: +3 for correct, -1 for wrong
    • Subjects:
      • English (Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Idioms & Phrases)
      • General Awareness (History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Economy, Science, Defence, Art & Culture, Sports, Current Affairs)
      • Numerical Ability (Percentage, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Ratio, Simple Interest, Time & Distance, Area)
      • Reasoning & Military Aptitude (Verbal, Non-Verbal, Spatial Ability, Military Aptitude)
  • EKT (for Technical Branch)
    • Duration: 45 Minutes
    • Questions: 50 | Marks: 150
