Eligibility Criteria (as on 01 August 2024):
Educational Qualification:

  • LLB Degree from a recognized university
  • Eligible for enrollment as an Advocate
  • Certificate in Computer Operation from a State Government recognized institution

Age Limit:

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age:
    • UR / EWS Male: 35 Years
    • BC-I / BC-II Male: 37 Years
    • UR / BC-I / BC-II Female: 38 Years
    • SC / ST (Male & Female): 40 Years
    • PwBD: +10 Years in respective category
    • Govt Employees (3+ years): +5 Years
    • Ex-Servicemen: +5 Years

Domicile & Nationality:

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Only Jharkhand domiciled candidates are eligible for reservation and age relaxations
  • Candidates from other states can apply only under General (Unreserved) category

Application Fee:

  • General / BC / EBC / EWS / Other States: ₹600 + Bank Charges
  • SC / ST (Jharkhand Domicile): ₹150
  • PwBD (40% or more): Exempted

Pay Scale:

  • Pay Matrix Level-8: ₹47,600 – ₹1,51,100 (as per 7th CPC)
  • Equivalent 6th CPC Pay Band: ₹9300–34800 with Grade Pay ₹4800

Selection Process:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective MCQ):
    • Total Marks: 300
    • Duration: 2 Hours per Paper
    • Papers:
      • Paper 1: General Studies – 100 Marks
      • Paper 2: Law Subjects – 200 Marks
    • Shortlisting for Mains: 1:13 ratio
  2. Main Written Examination (Descriptive):
    • Total Marks: 1200
    • Papers (3 Hours each):
      • Paper 1: General Hindi – 100 Marks
      • Paper 2: General English – 100 Marks
      • Paper 3: Essay Writing – 100 Marks
      • Paper 4: General Studies – 100 Marks
      • Paper 5: Indian Penal Code – 200 Marks
      • Paper 6: Indian Evidence Act – 200 Marks
      • Paper 7: Indian Constitution – 200 Marks
      • Paper 8: Code of Criminal Procedure – 200 Marks
    • Qualifying Language Paper: 1 Regional Language (e.g., Santali, Mundari, Ho, Kudukh, Nagpuri, Kurmali, Khortha) – 100 Marks (Compulsory pass, not counted in merit)
  3. Interview (Personality Test):
    • Total Marks: 50
    • Shortlisting: 1:3 ratio
    • Evaluates legal aptitude, general awareness, judgment, communication skills, and integrity
  4. Final Merit List:
    • Based on Mains + Interview Marks
    • In case of tie, preference to the older candidate
